Selection factors of UPVC/CPVC elbows in industrial and domestic water systems: pressure, temperature and flow analysis

In industrial and domestic water systems, the selection of UPVC (unplasticized polyvinyl chloride) and CPVC (chlorinated polyvinyl chloride) elbows (Faucet Elbow) directly affects the safety, durability and operating efficiency of the system. When selecting, it is necessary to comprehensively consider the pressure level, temperature adaptability, fluid medium and flow requirements, and combine the special requirements of different industries. The following are key selection factors and typical industry application analysis:

1. Pressure level: matching system pressure requirements
UPVC: suitable for medium and low pressure systems (usually ≤16bar), commonly used in civil drinking water (Drinking Water), industrial water treatment (Industrial Water Treatment) and other scenarios.
CPVC: Stronger pressure bearing capacity (up to 25bar or more), suitable for high pressure and high temperature environments, such as photovoltaic (Photovoltaic) cooling systems, nuclear power plant (Nuclear Power) auxiliary pipelines, etc.

Industry application differences:
Metallurgy: Circulating cooling water systems require high pressure elbows, CPVC is better.
Electronic Semiconductor: Ultrapure water delivery requires low pressure but high cleanliness, and UPVC is more economical.

2. Temperature adaptability: Distinguish between hot and cold water and extreme environments
UPVC: Temperature range 0°C~60°C, suitable for normal temperature drinking water (Safe Drinking Water) or industrial wastewater (Industrial Wastewater) discharge.
CPVC: Temperature resistance up to 90°C~110°C, suitable for high temperature process fluids, such as steam sterilization pipes in the medicine industry or thermal oil circulation systems in photovoltaic plants.

Key scenarios:
Nuclear Power: Non-core cooling pipes require high temperature resistant and anti-corrosion materials, and CPVC is the preferred choice.
Industrial Water Treatment: Acid and alkali waste liquid transportation requires temperature resistance and corrosion resistance, and CPVC is more reliable.

3. Flow and fluid media: Chemical compatibility and flow rate design
Flow requirements: The elbow diameter must match the system design flow rate (e.g. UPVC is commonly used in drinking water systems. DN20-DN50).

Chemical compatibility:
UPVC is resistant to weak acids and weak bases, and is suitable for ultrapure water systems in electronic semiconductors.
CPVC is resistant to strong acids and solvents, and is suitable for chemical agent transportation in the medicine industry.

Photovoltaic: The coolant contains ethylene glycol, and CPVC has better chemical corrosion resistance.

Drinking water: Must comply with NSF/ANSI 61 certification, and both UPVC/CPVC must be lead-free.
