The difference between UPVC and CPVC pipe caps: comparison of material properties, temperature resistance and applicable scenarios

UPVC (unplasticized polyvinyl chloride) and CPVC (chlorinated polyvinyl chloride) pipe caps are widely used in industrial piping systems, but due to differences in material properties, their applicable scenarios are also different. The following are the key differences between the two, and are analyzed in combination with the application needs of different industries:

1. Material properties
UPVC: strong rigidity and good corrosion resistance, but low temperature resistance (usually ≤60℃), suitable for normal temperature or low temperature environments.
CPVC: After chlorination treatment, the temperature resistance is significantly improved (can withstand ≤93℃ or even higher temperatures), while maintaining excellent chemical corrosion resistance, suitable for high temperature medium transportation.

2. Temperature resistance comparison
UPVC: Suitable for normal temperature environments such as drinking water (Drinking Water), industrial water treatment (Industrial Water Treatment), such as municipal water supply and cooling water systems.
CPVC: In ultrapure water systems in industries such as photovoltaics and electronic semiconductors, it can withstand high-temperature cleaning processes; in metallurgy and industrial wastewater treatment, it can handle high-temperature corrosive media.

3. Applicable scenario analysis
Safe Drinking Water: UPVC pipe caps are widely used in drinking water pipe systems because they are non-toxic and meet food-grade standards; while CPVC has more advantages when high-temperature disinfection (such as hospital water supply) is required.
Nuclear Power: CPVC's high temperature resistance and radiation resistance make it suitable for auxiliary pipe systems in nuclear power plants, while UPVC is mostly used in conventional water circulation systems.
Medicine: CPVC can be used for high-temperature sterilization process pipes, while UPVC is suitable for normal temperature liquid transportation.
Photovoltaic: In the manufacture of solar cells, CPVC pipe caps can withstand high-temperature cleaning of high-purity chemicals, while UPVC is used for general drainage.

4. Industry selection recommendations
UPVC is preferred: normal temperature drinking water, general industrial water treatment, low-corrosive drainage systems in the electronic semiconductor industry.
CPVC is preferred: high-temperature chemical media (such as metallurgical pickling), high-temperature sterilization of medicines, photovoltaic ultrapure water systems, nuclear power radiation-resistant environments, etc.
