Selection of UPVC/CPVC Reducing Tees in Industrial Pipe Systems: Size Standards, Pressure Ratings and Chemical Compatibility

In industrial piping systems, the selection of UPVC/CPVC reducing tees (Reducing Tees) needs to comprehensively consider size standards, pressure ratings and chemical compatibility to ensure system safety and long-term stability. The following are key selection points for different industry applications:

1. Size Standards and Pressure Ratings
UPVC (unplasticized polyvinyl chloride) is suitable for normal temperature and low pressure scenarios (such as ≤60°C), and is commonly used in drinking water, industrial water treatment and other systems. The size must comply with ISO 1452 or ASTM D1785 standards.

CPVC (chlorinated polyvinyl chloride) has higher temperature resistance (up to 90°C) and is suitable for high-temperature fluids, such as coolant pipes in the photovoltaic industry or pickling processes in metallurgy. It must comply with ASTM F441 standards and the pressure rating must match the system design (such as SCH 80/40).

2. Chemical compatibility
Different industries have strict requirements on the corrosiveness of materials:

The electronic semiconductor and medicine industries require high-purity pipes. CPVC has excellent chemical resistance and can resist ultrapure water and weak acid/alkali media.
In the auxiliary system of nuclear power plants, UPVC/CPVC must pass the radiation resistance test to avoid leakage due to chemical degradation.
When industrial wastewater contains corrosive substances (such as chlorine and sulfide), CPVC has better corrosion resistance than UPVC, but the anti-aging performance after long-term contact needs to be verified.

3. Industry application adaptation suggestions
Safe Drinking Water: NSF-certified UPVC is preferred to ensure non-toxicity.
High temperature/corrosive scenarios (such as metallurgy, photovoltaics): CPVC is more reliable, and extra attention needs to be paid to the interface sealing material (such as EPDM gasket).
Precision industry (semiconductors, medicine): Choose CPVC with a smooth inner wall to reduce the risk of fluid residue.
