How to choose the material of Union Diaphragm Valve in chemical corrosive media?

In the chemical industry, the material selection of Union Diaphragm Valve (flange-connected diaphragm valve) is crucial because corrosive media (such as strong acids, strong alkalis, organic solvents, etc.) may damage the valve, causing leakage or failure. Different industries have different requirements for the corrosion resistance, sealing and service life of valves. The following are material selection recommendations for several key industries:

1. Safe Drinking Water
Recommended material: EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber) diaphragm + 316L stainless steel valve body
Reason: EPDM is chlorine-resistant and oxidation-resistant, and meets the drinking water hygiene standards; 316L stainless steel is corrosion-resistant and has no pollution risk.

2. Metallurgy
Recommended material: PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) diaphragm + Hastelloy valve body
Reason: The metallurgical industry is often exposed to strong acids (such as sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid) and high-temperature media. PTFE is resistant to strong corrosion, and Hastelloy is resistant to high temperature and chemical erosion.

3. Photovoltaic (Photovoltaic Industry)
Recommended material: PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) diaphragm + PP (polypropylene) valve body
Reason: The photovoltaic industry involves corrosive chemicals such as hydrofluoric acid (HF), and PVDF and PP have excellent acid resistance.

4. Nuclear Power (Nuclear Power Industry)
Recommended material: PTFE diaphragm + titanium alloy (Titanium) valve body
Reason: The medium of nuclear power plants may contain boric acid and radioactive substances. Titanium alloys are radiation-resistant and corrosion-resistant, and PTFE provides reliable sealing.

5. Electronic Semiconductor (Electronic Semiconductor)
Recommended material: PFA (perfluoroalkoxy resin) diaphragm + high-purity PVDF valve body
Reason: The semiconductor industry requires ultra-high purity and low particle contamination. PFA and PVDF do not precipitate impurities and are resistant to high-purity chemicals (such as hydrofluoric acid and ammonia).

6. Medicine (Pharmaceutical Industry)
Recommended material: Silicone or PTFE diaphragm + 316L stainless steel valve body
Reason: The pharmaceutical industry needs to comply with FDA standards. Silicone and PTFE are non-toxic and resistant to sterilization (such as CIP/SIP). 316L is easy to clean and rust-proof.

7. Industrial Water Treatment (Industrial Water Treatment)
Recommended material: EPDM or FKM (fluororubber) diaphragm + CF8M (316 stainless steel) valve body
Reason: EPDM is suitable for general water treatment, FKM is resistant to oil and oxidants; 316 stainless steel is resistant to chlorine and salt water corrosion.

8. Industrial Wastewater (Industrial Wastewater Treatment)
Recommended material: PTFE or FFKM (perfluoroether rubber) diaphragm + duplex steel (Duplex 2205) valve body
Reason: Wastewater contains strong acids, strong alkalis or organic solvents. PTFE/FFKM is resistant to chemical corrosion, and duplex steel is resistant to chloride stress corrosion.

9. Drinking Water (drinking water system)
Recommended material: EPDM diaphragm + bronze or 316 stainless steel valve body
Reason: EPDM meets sanitary standards, bronze or 316 stainless steel is corrosion-resistant and does not affect water quality.
