SCH8O/DIN UPVC/CPVC Flang Diaphragm Valve

Analysis of structural characteristics and corrosion resistance of UPVC/CPVC flange diaphragm valves

UPVC (unplasticized polyvinyl chloride) and CPVC (chlorinated polyvinyl chloride) flange diaphragm valves are widely used in many industrial fields due to their unique structural design and excellent corrosion resistance. The following analysis is made from the two aspects of structural characteristics and corrosion resistance, combined with typical industry application scenarios.

1. Structural characteristics
Diaphragm seal: elastic diaphragm (such as EPDM, PTFE) is used as the opening and closing element to achieve zero leakage, avoid contact between the medium and the metal parts in the valve body, and is suitable for high-purity or corrosive fluids.
Flange connection: standard flange design (such as ANSI, DIN) is easy to install and disassemble, suitable for high-pressure pipeline systems.
Lightweight material: The weight of the UPVC/CPVC valve body is much lower than that of metal valves, reducing installation costs and having high mechanical strength.
Streamlined flow channel: low flow resistance design, reducing medium deposition, suitable for working conditions containing particles or viscous fluids.

2. Corrosion resistance
UPVC and CPVC have excellent corrosion resistance to acids, alkalis, salts and organic solvents, but there are slight differences between the two:
UPVC: Suitable for weak acid, weak alkali and salt water environments at room temperature (≤60°C), such as drinking water, industrial water treatment, etc.
CPVC: Higher temperature resistance (≤90°C), can withstand strong acids (such as hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid) and oxidants, widely used in ultrapure water systems in the electronic semiconductor industry, chemical liquid transportation in the photovoltaic industry, and cooling water treatment in nuclear power plants.

3. Industry application scenarios
Safe drinking water: UPVC diaphragm valves meet hygiene standards and are used in municipal water supply systems.
Metallurgy: CPVC valves are resistant to corrosion from electroplating solutions and pickling wastewater, and are suitable for smelter wastewater treatment (Industrial Wastewater).
Medicine: The diaphragm structure avoids contamination, meets GMP requirements, and is used for drug delivery.
Photovoltaic and electronics industry: The high purity characteristics of CPVC are suitable for key processes such as silicon wafer cleaning and etching solution control.
