How to correctly select UPVC/CPVC ball check valve? Key factors and industry application guide

UPVC (unplasticized polyvinyl chloride) and CPVC (chlorinated polyvinyl chloride) ball check valves are widely used in many industries due to their corrosion resistance, lightweight and high cost performance. Correct selection requires comprehensive consideration of media characteristics, working conditions and industry-specific needs. The following are key selection points and typical industry application analysis:

1. Media compatibility
UPVC: Suitable for weak acid, weak alkali and clear water media at room temperature (≤60°C), such as drinking water, industrial water treatment, etc.
CPVC: Higher temperature resistance (≤90°C), can withstand strong acids, strong alkalis and some organic solvents, suitable for chemical liquid transportation in the electronic semiconductor industry or etching wastewater treatment in the photovoltaic industry.

2. Pressure and flow requirements
Low-pressure systems (such as pure water delivery in the medicine industry) can choose standard pressure levels (PN10~16).
High-pressure or pulse conditions (such as cooling circulation systems in metallurgy) need to verify the pressure bearing capacity of the valve body, and choose a reinforced structure if necessary.

3. Special industry requirements
Nuclear power plants: must comply with radiation-resistant material certification and ensure zero leakage to prevent pollution.
Industrial wastewater: When containing granular media, it is recommended to use a ball check valve with an anti-blocking design to avoid the valve ball from getting stuck.
Safe drinking water: The valve body material must pass NSF/ANSI 61 and other drinking water safety certifications.

4. Installation environment
For space-constrained scenarios (such as electronic semiconductor factory service pipelines), compact flanges or threaded connection styles should be selected.
Corrosive environments (such as acid wastewater pipelines in the photovoltaic industry) require additional checks on the tolerance of sealing materials (such as EPDM, FPM).

5. Maintenance and lifespan
For systems that are frequently started and stopped (such as CIP cleaning pipelines in the pharmaceutical industry), it is recommended to choose wear-resistant valve balls (such as ceramic coatings) to reduce the frequency of maintenance.
