How to correctly select UPVC/CPVC Swing Check Valve? Key Parameters and Working Condition Matching Guide

UPVC (unplasticized polyvinyl chloride) and CPVC (chlorinated polyvinyl chloride) Swing Check Valve are widely used in many industries due to their excellent corrosion resistance, lightweight design and economy. Correct selection requires comprehensive consideration of media characteristics, working conditions and valve performance to ensure long-term stable operation. The following are key selection points and typical industry application analysis:

1. Media type and chemical compatibility
UPVC/CPVC materials have good tolerance to acids, alkalis, salts and various corrosive media, but different industries have different requirements for media purity and chemical resistance:
Safe Drinking Water: Must comply with NSF/ANSI 61 certification to ensure non-toxic precipitation.
Industrial Water Treatment: Applicable to water systems containing chlorine, flocculants and other chemical agents.
Industrial Wastewater: Strong corrosion resistance, can treat wastewater containing acids, alkalis and heavy metals.
Electronic Semiconductor: Ultra-high purity media is required, and the inner wall of the valve is smooth and free of precipitates.
Medicine: Meet FDA standards to avoid contamination of pharmaceutical water or high-purity liquids.

2. Temperature and pressure range
UPVC: Applicable temperature 0°C~60°C, short-term temperature resistance can reach 65°C, suitable for normal temperature conditions (such as Drinking Water system).
CPVC: Higher temperature resistance (-20°C~90°C), suitable for high-temperature fluids (such as coolants in the Photovoltaic industry or acid-base circulation systems in Metallurgy).
The pressure level is usually PN10~PN16, which needs to be selected according to the system working pressure (such as the low-pressure working conditions of Nuclear Power auxiliary pipelines).

3. Flow characteristics and valve size
Swing Check Valve relies on fluid power to open and close automatically, and the minimum opening and closing pressure (usually 0.5~1 bar) must be guaranteed to avoid poor sealing under low-pressure conditions (such as low-speed water flow in Industrial Water Treatment).
Large-diameter valves (DN50 and above) are suitable for high-flow scenarios (such as Industrial Wastewater discharge), and small-diameter valves (DN15-DN40) are more suitable for precision systems (such as ultrapure water delivery in Electronic Semiconductor).

4. Special industry requirements
Nuclear Power: It must meet radiation aging standards, and the valve must have a redundant sealing design.
Photovoltaic: It must be resistant to ethylene glycol coolant corrosion and has high requirements for long-term high-temperature operation stability.
Metallurgy: CPVC is more reliable than UPVC for high-concentration acids, alkalis or oxidants.

5. Installation and maintenance considerations
When installing horizontally, ensure that the swing direction of the valve disc is consistent with the fluid; when installing vertically, choose a spring-assisted check valve (such as the compact space arrangement in the Medicine industry).
Regularly check the sealing of the valve seat to prevent particle jamming (common in Industrial Wastewater containing impurities).
